Greet Priscilla and Aquila Romans 16:3

Paul the apostle told the believers in Rome, “I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea”, and he added, “That you receive her in the Lord, as becomes saints, and that you assist her in whatsoever business she has need of you: for she has been a helper of many, and of myself also.” In chapter sixteen and verse three of Romans, Paul shared the believers, “greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers” where we read:
Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

The verse begins, Greet Priscilla and Aquila ... Paul began with the word, “greet” which means “ salute, bid welcome, wish well to and receive joyfully” “Priscilla” whose name means “ancient” and was “a Christian woman who was the wife of Aquila ” “and Aquila” whose name means “an eagle” and was “a Jew of Pontus who was a tent maker convert to Christ and companion and ally of Paul in propagating Christianity”. Paul desired for the believers in Rome to “wish well to” “Priscilla and Aquila” who were his friends in ministry.

The verse continues, “... my helpers in Christ Jesus:. Paul continued with the words, “my helpers” which means “Paul's companions and fellow laborers” “in Christ” or “in the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God” “Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”. Paul referred to “Priscilla and Aquila” as his “companions and fellow workers” in Jesus.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how he did not do his work among the Gentiles alone. People like “Priscilla and Aquila” “helped” him in the ministry. The work of the “gospel of Jesus Christ” is wide and far enough to include many “companions and fellow laborers” like these, and those who receive Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” begin a venture to come alongside God in propagating Christianity.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome more about Priscilla and Aquila whom he wrote, “have for my life laid down their own necks”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
