Paul
the apostle told the believers in Rome, “none
of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself” and
in chapter
fourteen and verse eight of Romans,
Paul told the believers in Rome, “whether
we live or die” we
do so “unto
the Lord” where
we read:
For
whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die
unto the Lord:
whether
we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
The
verse begins, “For
whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die
unto the Lord:” Paul
began with the words, “for
whether”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore if” “we
live”
or “Paul, his companions and his believing readers breathe, enjoy
real life, are active, blessed and are full of vigor” “unto
the Lord”
which means
“toward
he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of
deciding; master and the title for God the Messiah”; “and
whether we die”
which means “and if Paul, his companions and his believing readers
perish and be dead”,
“we die”
or “Paul, his companions and his believing readers perish and are
as dead” “unto
the Lord”
which refers to “toward he has power of deciding; master and the
title for God the Messiah”. Paul shared how “believers” whether
“living or dying” did so as “unto
the Lord”.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
whether
we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.”
Paul
added the word, “whether”
which
means “if”
“we
live”
or “Paul, his companions and his believing readers breathe, enjoy
real life, are active, blessed and full of vigor” “therefore”
which means “then, accordingly, consequently and these things being
so”, “or
die”
which means “perish and are as dead” “we
are the Lord's”
which refers to “Paul, his companions and his believing readers
belong to he that has power of deciding; master and the title for God
the Messiah”.
Paul considered “life”
and “death”
to be bearable because he, his companions and his believing readers
belong to “the
Lord”.
When
we think through these words of Paul, we see how “life” and
“death” are as unto the Lord for the “believer” in Jesus
Christ. Regardless of whether a person is “living” or
“dying”, they do so before the Lord when they have
received Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Jesus Christ
came to save people from their sins and to give to them “everlasting
life”, and when a person accepts Jesus as their “Savior”,
whether they are “living” or “dying” they do so unto “the
Lord”.
Next
time
Paul tells the believers in Rome, “to
this end Christ both died, and rose”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
