Greet Amplias Romans 16:8

As Paul the apostle continued to list certain individuals to greet among the believers in Rome, he told the believers to, “Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners,
who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me”, and in chapter sixteen and verse eight of Romans, Paul instructed the believers to, “Greet Amplias” where we read:
Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.

The verse begins, “Greet Amplias ... Paul began with the word, “greet” which means “salute, bid welcome, wish well to and receive joyfully” “Amplias” whose name means “large” and was “a Christian living in Rome”. Paul wanted the believers in Rome to “salute and wish well” to “Amplias” who was a believer and lived there.

The verse continues, “... my beloved in the Lord. Paul added the words, “my beloved” which means “Paul's esteemed, dear, favorite and worthy of love one” “in the Lord” or “within he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah”. Paul recognized “Amplias” as his “dear, favored” one who was “worthy of love” one.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how another brother has been worthy of mention and “salute”. God Almighty loves to unite people by having a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. When people accept Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they become as family, and they become as the “beloved in the Lord”.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome to “salute Urbane” and “Stachys”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
