Paul
the apostle told the believers in Rome, “Him
that is weak in the faith receive you, but
not to doubtful disputations”,
and he added, “For
one believes that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eats
herbs.” In
chapter
fourteen and verse three of Romans,
Paul told the believers who do not “eat all things” not to,
“judge
him that eats”
where
we read:
Let
not him that eats despise him that eats not;
and
let not him which eats not judge him that eats: for God has received
him.
The
verse begins, “Let
not him that eats despise him that eats not; ” Paul
began with the words, “let
not him”
which means “do not allow or permit the human whether male or
female” “that
eats”
or “who consumes or devours” “despise
him”
which means
“set
at naught, esteem lease and contemptible the human being whether male
or female”
“that eats not”
or “who does not consume and devour”. Paul instructed his
believing readers not to “esteem” the people who do not eat “all
things” in a lesser position or degree.
The
verse goes on to say, “and
let not him which eats not judge him that eats: for God has received
him.”
Paul
continued with the words, “and
let not him” which
means “and do not permit or allow the person whether male or
female”
“which
eats not”
or “who does not consume and devour” “judge
him”
which means “separate, put asunder, esteem, deem and think
themselves to be higher than” “that
eats”
or “the person who consumes and devours”: “For
God”
which refers to “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “has
received him”
which means “taken the person to himself in friendship, access and
as His companion”.
Paul instructed believers who “do not eat all things” not to “put
asunder and deem themselves better” than believers who do “eat
all things”
because God has “accepted” and “saved” them all.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how important it is to
realize that God's acceptance of a person supersedes whether a person
“eats all things” or only “eats vegetables”. Personal
convictions over these physical matters are not greater than the
spiritual connection that is made by accepting Jesus Christ as a
personal “Savior and Lord”. God sent His Son Jesus to “seek
and to save that which is lost” (Luke 19:10), and the matter of
“eating” or not “eating” should have no role in acceptance of
those to whom God has “received”.
Next
time
Paul asks the believers in Rome, “who
are you that judge another man's servant?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
