Paul
the apostle prayed for the believers in Rome as he wrote, “Whensoever
I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see
you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if
first I be somewhat filled with your company”,
and in
chapter
fifteen and verse twenty-five of Romans,
Paul told the believers, “I
go unto Jerusalem to minister” where
we read:
But
now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
The
verse begins, “But
now I go unto Jerusalem ...”
Paul
began with the word, “but”
which
means “moreover and” “now”
or “at this present moment and time” “I
go”
which means “Paul lead, carried over and transferred” “unto
Jerusalem”
or “towards the city in Israel whose name means set double peace”.
Paul desired to travel to “Spain” and to see the believers in
Rome, however, he was to journey to the city of “Jerusalem”
first.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
to minister unto the saints.”.
Paul added the words, “to
minister”
which means “wait upon, serve and attend” “unto
the saints”
or “toward the pure, morally blameless, religious and ceremonially
consecrated believers in Jesus ”. Paul desired to “serve and wait
upon” the believers in Jerusalem.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see his desire to “serve
and wait upon” his fellow believers in Jerusalem. Though the
“Gentiles” were his calling and focus for a while, he
wanted to go back to the “Jewish believers” who lived in
Jerusalem. God desires for people to have a relationship with Him
through His Son Jesus Christ, and afterwards, they are to “minister”
to one another. Let all who read these words know the value of a
relationship with God and serve fellow believers who accept and trust
in His Son Jesus.
Next
time
Paul tells the believers in Rome,
“it
has pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain
contribution for the poor saints”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
