Confessed Before Jesus' Father - Matthew 10:32

Matthew the apostle shared how Jesus told His disciples, “fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Jesus continued, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear you not therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows”, and in chapter ten and verse thirty-two of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples what will happen to, “whosoever therefore shall confess” Him “before men” where we read:

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men,

him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

The verse reads, Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, ...” Matthew began with the words, “whosoever therefore” which means “then, accordingly, consequently and these things being so whatever person whether male or female” “shall confess me” or “will declare, speak out freely, praise and celebrate Jesus” “before men” which means “in the presence of and in front of people whether male or female”. Matthew shared how Jesus proposed the condition that a person would “proclaim and declare” Him before other people.

The verse goes on to say, “... him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew added the words, “him will I confess also” which means “that person whether male or female will even so and indeed declare, speak out freely, praise and celebrate” “before my Father” or “in front of and in the presence of God the Father who is the Creator, progenitor and originator of all” “which is in heaven” or “who exist within the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings ”. Matthew shared how Jesus promised His disciples He would “declare and celebrate” them before His Heavenly Father when they did the same with Him before men.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we discover this wonderful promise from Jesus. Those who have yielded their lives to Him and “declare” Him before other people are to be “praised and celebrated” before God the Father. God desires for Jesus to do this with every person who will submit their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and those who are wise shall not only yield to Him, but also openly declare Him to people God places in their path.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus told His disciples what will happen to, “whosoever shall deny” Him “before men”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
