Denied Before Jesus' Father - Matthew 10:33

Matthew the apostle shared how Jesus told His disciples, “fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Jesus continued, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear you not therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven”, and in chapter ten and verse thirty-three of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples what would happen to, “whosoever shall deny” Him “before men” where we read:

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

The verse reads, But whosoever shall deny me before men, ...” Matthew began with the words, “but whosoever” which means “however, moreover and whatever person whether male or female” “shall deny me” or “will disregard, not accept, reject, refuse, abnegate and abjure Jesus” “before men” which means “in front of in in the presence of people whether male or female”. Matthew shared Jesus' contrast concerning the person who “refuses and rejects” Jesus Christ in the presence of people.

The verse goes on to say, “... him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew added the words, “him will I also deny” which means “that person whether male or female Jesus will even and indeed disregard, not accept, reject, refuse, abnegate and abjure” “before my Father” or “in front of and in the presence of God the Father who is the Creator, progenitor and originator of all” “which is in heaven” or “who exist within the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”. Matthew shared how Jesus promised those who “do not accept and reject” Him, He will “disregard, not accept, reject, refuse, abnegate and abjure” them before His Heavenly Father.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we discover another promise of Jesus. This time He promised those who “refuse and reject” Him before people will be treated the same way before His Father who is Almighty God. God desires a loving relationship with every person, however, should they “reject and refuse” His offer of “salvation” through His Son Jesus Christ, Jesus Himself will “refuse and reject” them before God. Let all who read these words take heed, and should there be one reading who has not accepted Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, let today be the day they “declare and proclaim” Him before men before it is too late.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus told His disciples, “think not that I am come to send peace on earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
