The Blind Men's Eyes Opened Matthew 9:30

Matthew the apostle shared how after Jesus raised a little girl back to life again, the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. And when Jesus departed there, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, You Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus said unto them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.” In chapter nine and verse thirty of his book, Matthew shared how the blind men's, “eyes were opened” where we read:

And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straightly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

The verse reads, And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straightly charged them, saying, ...” Matthew began with the words, “and their eyes” or “and the eyes of the blind men” “were opened” which means “were literally opened up so they could see”; “and Jesus” or “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “straightly charged them” which means “earnestly admonished and sternly threatened the blind men”, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”. Matthew shared how the “blind men” were made to see by Jesus who afterward “admonished” them with the following words.

The verse continues, “... See that no man know it.” Matthew added the words, “see that no man” or “beware, take heed and pay particular attention so no other person whether male or female” “know it” which means “perceive, understand or have knowledge of Jesus healing them”. Matthew shared how Jesus did not want the blind men to share with others about their healing.

When we think through Matthew's words in this verse, we discover Jesus' power over “blinded eyes”, and His admonition for the “blind men” not to share their experience should make all who read these words marvel. Jesus had His plan and timing for His ministry among people, and when He performed great miracles, He “charged” people not to spread the word. God desires a relationship with people through His miracle working Son Jesus, and those who are “blind” may come to Him and ask Him to remove their “blindness” that they may clearly see Him.

Next time Matthew shares how the blind men, “departed” and “spread abroad his fame”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
