Jesus' Fame Grows Matthew 9:26

Matthew the apostle shared how, there came a certain ruler, and worshiped” Jesus, “saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; your faith has made you whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise. He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleeping. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.” In chapter nine and verse twenty-six of his book, Matthew shared how, “the fame hereof went abroad” where we read:

And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

The verse reads, And the fame hereof ...” Matthew began with the words, “and the fame” or “and the rumor” “hereof” which means “of this and these things”. Matthew referred to the “rumor and news” of Jesus.

The verse goes on to say, “... went abroad into all that land.” Matthew added the words, “went abroad” or “escaped, came forth, was made known, declared and spread” “into all” which means “toward the whole and throughout” “that land” which refers to “Jesus' arable land, ground, territory and region”. Matthew shared how the “rumor and news” of Jesus raising the maiden from the dead went throughout His entire region.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we can imagine how the news of Jesus raising this maiden from the dead traveled throughout His country. This kind of information amazes people, and those who knew it spread it everywhere. Jesus was rising in fame, and because He came to “save” people from their sins and offer them “everlasting life”, He continually demonstrated God's desire to have people believe and trust in Him. Those who saw Him made Him known, and those who are wise shall continue to do so today.

Next time Matthew shares how, “two blind men followed” Jesus, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
