Matthew the apostle wrote how the disciples of Jesus, “came, and said unto him, Why speak you unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twelve of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus answered His disciples, “whoever has, to him shall be given” where we read:
For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance:
but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has.
The verse reads, “For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance:” Matthew began with the word, “for” which means “because, since and on account that” “whosoever” or “whatever person whether male or female” “has” which means “owns, holds and possesses”, “to him” or “to that person whether male or female” “shall be given” or “will be granted, bestowed, furnished and supplied”, “and he shall have” which means “and that person whether male or female shall hold, own and possess” “more abundance” or “made to abound, excel and overflow”. Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples the person who obtains the mysteries of the Kingdom of God shall be granted an overflowing of the mysteries of God's Kingdom.
The verse goes on to say, “but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has.” Matthew added the word, “but” which means “nevertheless, moreover and” “whosoever” or “whatever person whether male or female” “has not” which means “does not hold, own or possess”, “from him” or “a separation of and distance from them” “shall be taken away” which refers to “will be moved, carried off and caused to cease” “even that he has” or “also and indeed whatever the person whether male or female holds, owns or possesses”. Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciple that people who do not obtain the mysteries of the Kingdom of God will have what they know about it taken away from them.
When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how important it is to have the mysteries and principles of the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and He died on the cross for the sins of the whole world to do so. God's offer of His Son Jesus is available to everyone who will “rely upon, cling to and trust in” Him, and it is a “mystery” that He desires to save. Those who are wise shall know they have this saving principle, and they shall allow God to continue to work in their lives. Those who reject Him, according to Jesus, shall have even that which they know taken away.
Next time Matthew shares how Jesus continued to answer His disciples, “because they seeing see not, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
