In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox”, and in chapter fourteen and verse five of Proverbs Solomon said, “a faithful witness will not lie” where we read,
A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
The verse begins, “A faithful witness will not lie:” Solomon began with the words, “a faithful witness” or “a person who is a trustworthy person who gives testimony and evidence” “will not lie” which means “shall in no way or manner speak a falsehood, vanity or that which is untrue”. Solomon shared how the person who testifies in a trustworthy manner will in no way speak a falsehood.
The verse continues, “but a false witness will utter lies.” Solomon added the words, “but a false witness” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover a person who gives testimony and evidence in a deceptive, disappointing, fraudulent and wrongful manner” “will utter lies” which means “shall declare, proclaim and speak falsehoods, vain words and that which is not true”. Solomon said a deceptive and fraudulent person who gives testimony and evidence shall declare falsehoods and untruths.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon the difference between a person who is “faithful” and one who is a “false witness”. The testimony of a “faithful” person will be the truth, however, the testimony of a person who is a “false witness” will speak fraudulently and without the truth. God said, “you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (See Exodus 20:16), and when we speak, we are to tell the truth. God is true, and He cannot lie. (See Titus 1:2) God loves us, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross, not only did He die for the sins of all mankind, but He died for every lie ever told. When we surrender our lives to Him as our “Lord and Savior”, we shall be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and inspired by His Holy Spirit to “speak the truth in love” (See Ephesians 4:15) and in keeping with the faithfulness and truthfulness of Jehovah God.
Next time Solomon says, “A scorner seeks wisdom, and finds it not”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
