In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Say not you, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for you do not inquire wisely concerning this”, and in chapter seven and verse eleven of his book Solomon said, “wisdom is good with an inheritance” where we read,
Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.
The verse reads, “Wisdom is good with an inheritance:” Solomon began with the words, “wisdom is good” or “shrewdness, skill, understanding and prudence exists as pleasant, agreeable, excellent and valuable” “with an inheritance” which means “accompanied by possessions, property, share and portion”. Solomon said shrewdness is pleasant and agreeable when it is accompanied by possessions and portions.
The verse goes on to say, “and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.” Solomon added the words, “and by it” or “and through the means of wisdom with an inheritance” “there is profit” which means “there exists superiority, advantage and excess” “to them that see the sun” or “to the people who look at, perceive, consider and have vision toward the sun in the sky”. Solomon said through the means of “wisdom with an inheritance” there exists advantage to people who observe the sun in the sky.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how shrewdness and and prudence are pleasant and agreeable to the person who possesses property, share or money and they become an advantage to people who observe the sun in the sky. God allows us to have possessions, and He will extend His wisdom to all who ask Him and receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was resurrected from the dead after three days. When we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will help us to be wise as possessions and valuables enter our lives. (See John 16:13; James 1:5)
Next time Solomon says, “wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
