If You Hear His Voice Hebrews 3:7

The writer of Hebrew showed how “Christ” Jesus was “as a son over his own house” which allows us to “hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end”, and in chapter three and verse seven of Hebrews we see the “Holy Ghost” gives to the readers of Hebrews where we read:

Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost says, To day if you will hear his voice,.

The verse begins, “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost says, ...The writer began with the word, “Wherefore” which means “for which cause, on account of and therefore” “(as the Holy” or “most sacred, pure, morally and religiously blameless” “Ghost” which means “spirit or the simple essence, devoid of all or at least all grosser matter and possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting”, “says” which means “utters, proclaims or declares”. The writer made a reference to the third person of the Holy Spirit as he makes his next declaration.

The verse goes on to say, “...Today if you will hear his voice”. The writer continued, “Today” which refers to “this very day, now and at this present time” “if you will hear” or “if you will hearken, give audience, attend to and consider” “his voice” which refers to “God's sound, tone and uttered words”. The exhortation and conditional phrase spoken by the “Holy Ghost” was whether the readers would “listen to and attend to” which He had to declare. The writer gave a condition for time being now to “give audience” to the words of the “Holy Ghost”.

When we consider these words in Hebrews, we notice how the “Holy Spirit” of God was also involved in the salvation of man. After showing Jesus superior to Moses and the manner in which he served in his “house”, we see the witness of God's Spirit to the way Jesus served in His – the church. Let us know and understand the awesome involvement of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit to save man from his sins, and if we have not received Him as Savior and Lord, let us do so “today”.

Next time we see the writer share the Holy Ghost's statement, “harden not your hearts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
