Some Must Enter Therein Hebrews 4:6

God desires for all people to “enter into” His “rest”, and the writer of Hebrews declared it over and over again. This comes through “belief” and trust in God's word, and in chapter four and verse six of Hebrews the writer declares “some must enter therein” where we read:

Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein,
and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

The verse begins, “Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein,...” The writer began with the words, “Seeing therefore” or “since and because then, accordingly, consequently and these things being so” “it remains” or “leaves behind and deserts” “that some” or “certain ones” “must enter therein” which means “go in and arise”. The writer concluded that there had to be “certain ones” who would enter into God's “rest”.

The verse goes on to say, “ ...and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:” The writer added, “and they to whom it was first” “the certain ones to whom the gospel before time or formerly was” “preached” or “announced, proclaimed and brought” “entered not in” which is the Greek phrase “eiserchomai ou eiserchomai” and means “they could not enter, take possession of, come into or arise” “because of unbelief” or “by reason and account of “obstinacy and opposition to the divine will”. Because the people who were first privileged to hear the “gospel” did not listen to or obey God, they were not allowed into the promise land.

When we think through these words in Hebrews, we realize that even though the children of Israel “heard” the word of the Lord, they were unbelievers and disobedient, and therefore were not allowed to enter the “rest” or “promise land” of God. When must understand and believe God Almighty sent His only begotten Son Jesus to provide a remedy for the sins of man which kept him separated from God. It is only then that we shall understand how important is our belief in Jesus. May all who read take heed.

Next time we see the writer declare again, “To day if you will hear his voice”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
