In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A true witness delivers souls: but a deceitful witness speaks lies”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, “in the fear of the LORD is strong confidence” where we read,
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
The verse begins, “In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence:” Solomon began with the words, “in the fear” or “within the awe, reverence and respect” “of the LORD” which means “pertaining to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “is strong confidence” or “exists as mighty, powerful, bold and majestic trust, refuge and security”. Solomon shared how there is powerful and mighty security within the respect and awe of Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “and his children shall have a place of refuge.” Solomon added the words, “and his children” or “and his, Jehovah God's, offspring and prodigy” “shall have a place of refuge” which means “will own, possess and remain within a location of shelter, hope and trust”. Solomon said the offspring of Jehovah God will obtain a location of shelter and hope.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon the benefit to revering Jehovah God. There is powerful security and trust within the awe of Him, and His offspring will possess a location of secure shelter. God desires to take care of us, and when we revere Him and receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an eternal place of “refuge” in Heaven with Him.
Next time Solomon says, “in the fear of the LORD is a fountain of life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
