The
apostle Paul spoke about “the wisdom
of God in a mystery”
to the Corinthians which was “hidden
wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory”,
and in chapter two and verse eight of
First Corinthians, Paul added to his letter by declaring how he
and his companions shared concerning a “wisdom”
that “none
of the princes of the world knew”
where we read:
Which
none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it,
they
would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
The
verse begins, “Which
none of the princes of this world knew:”
Paul began
with the words, “which none”
which means “who or that not one” “of
the princes”
which refers to “the rulers, commanders, chiefs and leaders” “of
this world”
or “this unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity” “knew”
which means “learned, came to know, got knowledge of, perceived or
felt”. None of the “commanders or chief leaders of the world”
knew the “wisdom”
of the “gospel of Jesus Christ”
shared with them.
The
verse continues, “
for had they known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”.
Paul added
the word, “for” which
means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “had they known it”
or “if the princes of this world had learned, came to know, gotten
knowledge of, perceived and felt”, “they
would not have”
or “would not have been in direct opposition to Jesus being”
“crucified”
which means “to be driven down with stakes and to palisade” “the
Lord” or
“he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of
deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “of
glory” which
means “opinion, judgment, view, estimate, praise, honor, splendor
and brightness”. If the “chiefs and leaders” of people in this
world knew who Jesus was, they would never have “crucified”
Him the way they did.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we see how the “blindness” of
the “leaders” during the time of Jesus kept them from seeing the
reality of Him. This lack of understanding led them to “crucify”
Jesus who is “the Lord of glory”. God Almighty desires for
everyone to have a relationship with Him, and access to this
relationship comes through believing in His Son Jesus. Not everyone
will hear or see the “good news” about Jesus even if they are the
“chief leaders”. May all who read these words be blessed by God
to “know” the “wisdom” of God and receive Jesus as
their personal Savior and Lord.
Next
time Paul shares how “eye
has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of
man, the things which God has prepared”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
