Multitudes of Sick People Come to Jesus - Matthew 15:30

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus, came near unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there”, and in chapter fifteen and verse thirty of his book, Matthew shares how, “great multitudes came unto him” who had many physical problems where we read:

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

The verse reads, And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, ...”. Matthew began with the words, “and great multitudes” which means “and large crowds and groups of people” came unto him” or went forth to and approached Jesus”, “having with them” which means “holding, owning and possessing with themselves” “those that were lame” or “people who could not walk, limping, deprived of foot, halt or were crippled”, “blind” which means “who had opaque vision or could not see”, “dumb” or “were blunted, dull in tongue or hearing”, “maimed” which means “crooked, injured, disabled and mutilated”, “and many others” or “and lots of other ailments and troubles”. Matthew shared how large amounts of people came to Jesus who were physically “lame, blind and maimed” as well as having lots of other physical problems.

The verse goes on to say, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Matthew continued with the words, “and cast them down” which means “and laid, put forward and set down with a suggestion of haste and want of care these physically impaired people” “at Jesus' feet” or “at the feet of Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation and is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”; “and he healed them” which means “and Jesus cured, restored and made these physically ill people well and restored to health”. Matthew shared how Jesus “restored and made whole” all these people with ailments.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see the compassion, care, power and love of Jesus demonstrated to people with physical maladies. These people who were “lame, blind, maimed and with other troubles” were brought before Jesus, laid at His feet in hope that Jesus would make them. Jesus complied, and those who are in desperation and come to Jesus may know He is not only ready to receive them, but also to be the answer for whatever difficulties and troubles they have in their lives. Let all who read these words simply “come to Jesus, sit at His feet and receive the cure for their troubled souls”.

Next time Matthew shares how, “the multitude wondered … and they glorified the God of Israel, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
