Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus, “came near unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel”, and in chapter fifteen and verse thirty-two of his book, Matthew shares how Jesus had, “compassion on the multitude” where we read:
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
The verse reads, “Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat:”. Matthew shared how Jesus gathered His disciples around Him and told them He pitied and sympathized with the “multitude”.
The verse goes on to say, “and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.” Matthew continued with the words, “and I will not send them away” which means “and Jesus would not make the crowd leave or depart” “fasting” or “having abstained from food and not eaten”, “lest” which means “whether and perhaps” “they faint” or “the crowd will fall out, ” “in the way” which means “”.
