The Hand of the LORD is Mighty - Joshua 4:24

In the book of Joshua, we learned how Joshua told the people of Israel, the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until you were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-four of the book of Joshua, we learn how Joshua said, “that all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty:” where we read,

That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty:

that you might fear the LORD your God for ever.

The verse reads, That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty:Joshua or the writer began with the words, “that all the people” which means “so each, every and the whole of the human beings” “of the earth might know” or “belonging to the region, district, territory and world might perceive, discern, distinguish and understand” “the hand of the LORD” which means “the powerful, mighty and able hand belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and is the proper name for the One True God”, “that it is mighty” or “that it, Jehovah God’s ability, exists as powerful, strong and firm”. Joshua said that the knowledge of Jehovah God drying up the flowing waters of the “Jordan” river would allow everyone in the world to be aware of the power and might that is within the authoritative “hand” of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, that you might fear the LORD your God for ever.Joshua continued with the words, “that you might fear the LORD” or “so you, the people of Israel, may be in awe, reverence and respect” “your God” which means “your, the people of Israel’s, Supreme Deity” “for ever” or “continually, perpetually and throughout the process of time”. Joshua shared how the people of Israel would be in awe of Jehovah God the Supreme Deity perpetually because of His mighty work performed upon the “Jordan” river.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the knowledge of Jehovah God’s powerful work upon the “Jordan” river about which Joshua spoke to the the people of Israel would cause the entire world to revere God and cause the people of Israel to be in awe of God’s power perpetually. God loves Israel, and His provision and protection over them was to speak to all the nations and people of the world. (See Genesis 18:18; Luke 12:29- 31 ) God sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when He resurrected Him from the grave after three days, He made the way through faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord” to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and teach us to revere Him for all eternity.

Next time we begin a new chapter and learn what happened with, “the Amorites and the Canaanites”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
