All the Counsel of God - Acts 20:27

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Paul told the elders in Ephesus, “I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men, and in chapter twenty and verse twenty-seven of the book of Acts Luke shared how Paul said,I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of Godwhere we read:

For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

The verse begins, “For I have not shunned to declare unto you ... Luke began with the words, “for I have not shunned” which means “because, since and on account that I, Paul, have not withdrawn, been timid, shrunk or unwilling” “to declare unto you” or “to announce, make known, report or bring back tidings to you elders of the church in Ephesus” the following words. Luke shared how “Paul” told the “elders in the church of Ephesus” that he in no way was “timid or unwilling” to share with them the following.

The verse continues, “... all the counsel of God.” Luke added the words, “all the counsel” which means “each, every, the whole and everything pertaining to the purpose, volition, advise and will” “of God” or “belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how “Paul” told the “elders in Ephesus” that he shared every part of “God's” “purpose, volition, advise and will” with them.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Paul” was thorough in his teaching and preaching to the church in Ephesus. God's entire “counsel” or “advise and will” were presented to them by “Paul”, and anyone who reads through the Bible will be considered to have that opportunity as well. Verse by verse, line by line and precept upon precept study of the word of God gives a person an opportunity to know God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. By God's word people learn His ways and how they are to live. God sent His Son Jesus to be the “Savior and Lord” of everyone who believes in, trusts in, relies upon and has confidence in Him. Those who are wise carefully attend to God's word and make sure they have “all the counsel of God” within their lives.

Next time Luke shares how Paul says, take heed therefore unto yourselves … to feed the church of God, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
