Philip's Four Daughters - Acts 21:9

The beloved physician Luke wrote when he, Paul and their fellow disciples, “had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day. And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse nine of the book of Acts Luke shared how Philip, had four daughters … which did prophesywhere we read:

And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

The verse begins, “And the same man had four daughters, ... Luke began with the words, “and the same man” which means “and the selfsame male human being who was Philip” “had four daughters” or “possessed four female offspring and progeny”. Luke shared how “Philip” also possessed four “female offspring”.

The verse continues, “... virgins, which did prophesy.” Luke added the word, “virgins” which means “marriageable maidens who never had sexual intercourse with a man”, “which did prophesy” or “who spoke under inspiration and exercised the prophetic office”. Luke shared how “Philip's” four daughters “spoke under inspiration” in the “prophetic office” of God.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Philip” had “four virgin daughters” who ministered to the Lord as “prophetesses”. Not only was “Philip” used in service to Jesus Christ, but his family was as well. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus. Anyone who comes to Jesus will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and be used along with their families to share the good news of Jesus Christ with other people in the world. Let all who read these words come to Jesus and make themselves available to Him.

Next time Luke shares about,a certain prophet, named Agabus, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
