Paul Goes to Greece - Acts 20:2

Luke the beloved physician wrote how there was a large commotion in Ephesus over Demetrius the silversmith coming against the teachings of Paul, and “after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia”, and in chapter twenty and verse two of the book of Acts Luke shared how Paul, came into Greecewhere we read:

And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

The verse begins, “And when he had gone over those parts, ... Luke began with the words, “and when he had gone over” which means “and at the time and moment Paul traveled, journey and passed through” “those parts” or “the areas within Macedonia” the following occurred. Luke shared at the time and moment “Paul” traveled about the area of “Macedonia”, the following also happened.

The verse continues, “... and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,” Luke added the words, “and had given them much exhortation” which means “and bestowed, furnished and supplied to the people in Macedonia a large and abundant amount of admonishing, exhorting, entreating and beseeching”, “he came into Greece” or “Paul arose and appeared in Greece whose name means unstable: the miry one and was a country in southern Europe”. Luke shared how “Paul” admonished and exhorted the believers in “Macedonia” and went into the country of “Greece”.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Paul” was on the move again as he traveled to “Macedonia”, admonished and encouraged the believers in Jesus there and traveled to “Greece”. God's gospel of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ was to be spread throughout the world, and “Paul” was retracing his previous places to be certain the believers in those places were continuing in their fellowship with the Lord. God loves people, and He wants to save them from the penalty of sin which is death. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and be raised three days later so people would have a way to be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Those who are wise will understand the travels and teachings of “Paul” were used by God to reach even those reading these words today, and those who yield themselves to Jesus whom “Paul” promoted will be saved.

Next time Luke shares concerning Paul, when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
