Sailing Over Phenicia - Acts 21:2

The beloved physician Luke wrote, “And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from there unto Patara:”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse two of the book of Acts Luke shared when Paul and the men with him found,a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forthwhere we read:

And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.

The verse begins, “And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, ... Luke began with the words, “and finding a ship” which means “and discovering and detecting a sailing vessel or boat” “sailing over unto Phenicia” or “crossing and passing toward Phenicia whose name means land of palm trees and was a territory of the province of Syria, situated on the coast of the Mediterranean between the river Eleutherus and the promontory of Carmel, some 30 miles (50 km) long and 3 (5 km) broad”. Luke shared how “Paul, Luke and the men traveling with them” discovered a “sailing vessel” that was making it's way toward “Phenicia”.

The verse goes on to say, “... we went aboard, and set forth.” Luke continued with the words, “we went aboard” which means “we, Luke, Paul and the men with him mounted, embarked and set their foot upon the ship”, “and set forth” or “and navigated, set sail and put forth to sea”. Luke shared how he, Paul and the men traveling with them boarded the sailing vessel going to “Phenicia” and set sail again.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn more about the travels of “Paul, Luke and the men journeying” with them. These men were on a mission, and God was leading them by His Holy Spirit. Every time they had need of a “sailing vessel” that would eventually lead them to “Jerusalem”, they found it. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus. When they submit to Him, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and lead them in His Kingdom to share His “good news” of salvation throughout the world. Let all who read these words come to Jesus and allow Him to relate to them and lead them in His Kingdom wherever He desires.

Next time Luke shares when Paul and the men with him,had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
