The Curse of the LORD - Proverbs 3:33

In the book of Proverbs Solomon told his son, “the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous”, and in chapter three and verse thirty-three of Proverbs Solomon said, the curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked” where we read,

The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesses the habitation of the just.

The verse begins, “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked:. Solomon began with the words, “the curse” or “the execration, loathing and hatred” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “is in the house” or “exists within the dwelling place, location and abode” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to the criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God”. Solomon told his son that Jehovah God's loathing and hatred exists within the dwelling place of people who are criminal and evil.

The verse goes on to say, “but he blesses the habitation of the just.” Solomon continued with the words, “but he blesses” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover he, Jehovah God, praises, salutes and adores” “the habitation of the just” which means “the dwelling place and abode belonging to people who are lawful, correct and righteous”. Solomon said Jehovah God salutes and adores the dwelling places of people who are righteous and correct.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how Jehovah God loathes the dwelling places of evil people who are hostile to Him. In contrast, He praises and adores the homes in which the righteous live. God wants everyone to be in a personal relationship with Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so we may be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. God is willing to “bless” anyone who yields their life to Jesus Christ, and should they refuse His offer, they place themselves in a position of dwelling that God loathes.

Next time Solomon says Jehovah God, scorns the scorners, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
