In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son,“Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes”, and in chapter three and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD shall be your confidence” where we read,
For the LORD shall be your confidence, and shall keep your foot from being taken.
The verse begins, “For the LORD shall be your confidence, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall be your confidence” which means “will exist as your, the son of Solomon's, trust and hope”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God would exist as his son's hope and trust, and therefore he did not need to be afraid of sudden fear or the desolation of the wicked.
The verse continues, “... and shall keep your foot from being taken.” Solomon added the words, “and shall keep your foot” or “and will guard, watch over and protect your physical foot, leg or steps” “from being taken” which means “from the noose or capture”. Solomon said Jehovah God would protect the steps of his son from being captured.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon wanted his son to be assured that Jehovah God would be his hope and expectation, and God would watch over his steps and journeys. God wants to be our provision and protection, and when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and prove Himself to be our hope and the observer of our every step.
Next time Solomon says, “withhold not good from them to whom it is due”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
