Walking Safely - Proverbs 3:23

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The LORD by wisdom has founded the earth; by understanding has he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. My son, let not them depart from your eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion. So shall they be life unto your soul, and grace to your neck”, and in chapter three and verse twenty-three of Proverbs Solomon said, then shall you walk in your way safely” where we read,

Then shall you walk in your way safely, and your foot shall not stumble.

The verse begins, “Then shall you walk in your way safely, .... Solomon began with the words, “then shall you walk” or “at that time will you, the son of Solomon's, amble, depart, proceed, move and be carried” “in your way safely” which means “within your, the son of Solomon's, path, journey, manner and direction with security, assurance, boldness and confidence”. Solomon shared how his son's manner of living would be secure and safe when he observed and obeyed the ways of wisdom and understanding.

The verse goes on to say, “... and your foot shall not stumble.” Solomon continued with the words, “and your foot” or “and your, Jehovah God's, physical foot, pace and steps” “shall not stumble” which means “will in no way or manner be smitten, gored, stubbed, inflicted with disease and put to the worse”. Solomon said when his son observed and obeyed the ways of wisdom and understanding the steps of his life would not be inflicted with disease or put to the worse.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted his son's life to be filled with security and the lack of infliction. God wants us to follow His path of living, and that's why He provided us with His wisdom and understanding. He gave His Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with His wise ways and intelligence for living in a manner that is safe and secure from “stumbling” according to His perfect plan and will.

Next time Solomon says, when you lie down, you shall not be afraid, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
