A Man with the Spirit of the Holy Gods - Daniel 5:11

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how Belshazzar was “greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied” because of a writing on the wall. “Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spoke and said, O king, live for ever: let not your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance be changed”, and in chapter five and verse eleven of his book Daniel shared how the queen said, “There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods” where we read,

There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar your father, the king, I say, your father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

The verse reads, “There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, …” Daniel began with the words, “there is a man” or “there exists a male human being”, “in your kingdom” which means “within your, King Belshazzar’s, royal realm and reign” “in whom is the spirit” or “within whom exists the mind” “of the holy gods” which means “belonging to the sacred and pure deities”; “and in the days” or “and within the time periods or seasons” “of your father” which means “belonging to your, King Belshazzar’s, male progenitor and ancestor” “light and understanding and wisdom” or “illumination, insight, intelligence, sagacity, experience and good judgement”. Daniel shared how the “queen” told “King Belshazzar” about a male human being within his royal reign who had the mind of the sacred deities within him, and in the time periods of his male progenitor, Nebuchadnezzar, possessed illumination, insight and good judgment.

The verse goes on to say, “… like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar your father, the king, I say, your father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;” Daniel continued with the words, “like the wisdom” which means “similar and in likeness to the experience and good judgment” “of the gods” or “belonging to the deities”, “was found in him” which means “was discovered within him, the man in his forefather’s day”: “whom the king Nebuchadnezzar” or “in which the royal ruler and leader Nebuchadnezzar whose name means ‘let Nebo protect the crown’ and was the great king of Babylon who captured Jerusalem and carried Judah captive”: “your father” which means “your, Belshazzar’s, male progenitor and ancestor”, “the king” or “the royal ruler and leader”, “I say” which means “I, the queen, utter, declare and proclaim”, “your father” or “your, Belshazzar’s, male progenitor and ancestor”, “made master of the magicians” which means “caused to be the captain, chief and lord of the diviners and astrologers who were writers and engravers of the occult”, “astrologers” or “necromancers, conjurers and enchanters”, “Chaldeans” which refers to “the clod breakers who were the inhabitants belonging to Chaldea who were living on the lower Euphrates and Tigris”, “and soothsayers” or “the seers, diviners, fortune-tellers or prognosticators”. Daniel shared how the “queen” told “King Belshazzar” that the deities’ experience and good judgment existed within the “man”, and his “father”, Nebuchadnezzar,  caused him to be the lord over all the “wise men” in his kingdom.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the “queen” told “King Belshazzar” that the “man in his kingdom” had the mind, illumination, experience and good judgment of the sacred deities within him, and his grandfather Nebuchadnezzar caused him to be the lord over all the other “wise men” in his kingdom. We shall see once again that this man was “Daniel”, and God would use Him again for His purposes. God wants to involve us in His Kingdom, and He will provide us with His gifts when we receive His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross and to be raised from the dead after three days. God will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with His Holy Spirit so we will be provided with abilities to be used by Him to share His gospel throughout the world.

Next time Daniel writes about what, “was found in Daniel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
