In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how King Nebuchadnezzar said, “I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes unto heaven, and my understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that lives for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What are you doing? At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and brightness returned unto me; and my counselors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me”, and in chapter four and verse thirty-seven of his book Daniel shared how Nebuchadnezzar said, “I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven” where we read,
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
The verse reads, “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, …” Daniel began with the words, “now I Nebuchadnezzar” or “at this time I Nebuchadnezzar whose name means may Nebo protect the crown” “praise and extol and honor” which means “laud, adulate, adore, lift up, exalt, glorify and magnify” “the king of heaven” or “the royal ruler and leader belonging to the sky, atmosphere and sidereal heaven where God dwells and other spiritual beings”. Daniel shared how King “Nebuchadnezzar” began to give adoration, exaltation and glory” to the Supreme Deity belonging to the sidereal “heaven”.
The verse continues, “all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” Daniel added the words, “all whose works are truth” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of the Supreme Deity’s acts and deeds exist as faithful and true”, “and his ways judgment” or “and his, the Supreme Deity’s, path and course of life just”: “and those that walk in pride” which means “and the people who amble about and make their way with arrogance and self-esteem” “he is able to abase” or “he, the Supreme Deity is capable of making low, putting down and subduing”. Daniel shared how King Nebuchadnezzar declared every action and deed of the Supreme Deity to be faithful and true, and His course of life is just. Everyone who makes their way with arrogance, He is able to subdue.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel about this final conclusion from King Nebuchadnezzar after being humbled by Jehovah God. God’s ways are right, just, truthful and may be relied upon, and those who humble themselves before Him will be lifted up. (See Matthew 23:12) God wants us to humble ourselves before Him, repent of our sins and believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth that will encourage us to give Him “praise, exaltation and honor” even as King Nebuchadnezzar learned to do.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Daniel say, “Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
