Nothing to Defile, Work Abomination or Make a Lie Revelation 21:27

After all the events of the tribulation period, the millennial reign of Jesus and the “Great White Throne” judgment, John the apostle wrote, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” John described the heavenly city as he wrote, “And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.” In Revelation chapter twenty-one and verse twenty-seven John shares how, “there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles...works abomination, or makes a lie” where we read:

And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
The verse reads, And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, ... John began with the words, “and there shall in no wise” which means “there shall not in any way” “enter” or “arise, come into existence or begin to be” “into it” which means “into the heavenly city” “any thing” or “each, every, the whole and all things” “that defiles” or “that is unclean, rendered unhallowed or profane”, “neither whatsoever works” which means “even, also, indeed and but that produces, makes ready, prepares or provides” “abomination” or “foul and detestable things pertaining to idolatry”. John shared how “nothing” “unclean and undefiled” will be brought into the “heavenly city”.

The verse continues, “... or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.” John added the words, “or makes a lie”” which means “or produces and brings forth a conscious and intentional falsehood, perversity or impious and deceitful precept”: “but” which means “whether or if” “they which are written” or “the people who are delineated or formed in letters” “in the Lamb's book” which refers to “within the little lamb's (which is Jesus) scroll, bill or writing” “of life” or “pertaining to living, vitality and genuine active and vigorous devotion to God who are blessed in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions such as a more perfect body which is to last forever”. John shared how all falsehoods, deceit and perversity” shall not be within the “heavenly city” where the people who's “names” are “written” in Jesus' “book of life” shall dwell.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how the “heavenly city” shall be pure, blameless and holy as all “defilement, abomination and lying” shall be absent there. God will allow all people who's “names are written” in Jesus' “book of life” to live in a holy place where evil and wickedness are no more. God wants every person to be there, and when they submit their lives to Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”, their “names” shall be included among those who shall be present.

Next time we begin the final chapter of Revelation and see John share about a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
