Where is the King of the Jews? Matthew 2:2

Matthew shared concerning the birth of Jesus that, “all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem”, and in chapter two and verse two of his book, Matthew shares how the wise men asked, “where is he that is born King of the Jews?” where we read:

Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews?
for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
The verse reads, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? Matthew began with the word, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring, proclaiming and asking” “where is he” or “in what place and wither is the person” “that is born” or “who is brought forth and birthed” “King” which means “leader of the people, prince, commander and lord of the land” “of the Jews” which refers to “belonging to people who belong to the Jewish nation as respects to birth, origin and religion”?. Matthew recorded how the “wise men” asked “where” they could find the person who was “born” as the “King of the Jews”.

The verse continues, for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. Matthew added the word, “for” which means “because, since and on account that” “we have seen” or “the wise men perceived with the eyes, noticed, discerned and discovered” “his star” which means “the one born as King of the Jews” “in the east” or “from the rising of the sun and stars”, “and have come” which means “have appeared and shown themselves” “to worship him” and refers to “to kneel in prostration, homage and obeisance in order to express respect or make supplication toward the one born King of the Jews”. The “wise men”, according to Matthew, saw the “King of the Jew'” “star” from their “eastern” land, and they followed in so they might “give homage” and “obeisance” toward Him.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how these oriental astrologers were greatly interested not only in the “King of the Jews'” “star”, but the One for whom the “star” appeared. Somehow, most likely through the inspiration of God, these “wise men” knew this was a special star, and when they discovered where it lead them, they wanted to “worship” the “King of the Jews”. God designed all these things so people could be “saved” from their sins, and those who are like these “wise men” shall seek Him as well.

Next time Matthew shares how, When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
