After
sharing much of the beauty of the heavenly city and looking upon the
wonders that shall be there, Jesus declared to John the apostle,
“Behold, I come quickly: blessed is
he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” John
continued,
“And
I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and
seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which
showed me these things. Then said he unto me, See you do it not: for
I am your fellow-servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of
them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” John
continued, “And
he said unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book:
for the time is at hand. He
that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let
him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous
still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I
come quickly; and my reward is
with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” In
Revelation chapter twenty-two and verse thirteen John shares how
Jesus told him, “I
am Alpha and Omega”
where
we read:
I
am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the
last.
The
verse reads, “I
am Alpha and Omega, ...”
John began with the words, “I
am”
which means “Jesus is” “Alpha”
or “the beginning” “and
Omega”
which means “the end or last”. Jesus employed the first and last
letters of the Greek alphabet to demonstrate how He is the “first
and the last”.
The
verse goes on to say, “... the
beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
John added the words, “the
beginning”
which means “the origin, person who commences, first in a series
and the extremity of a thing” “and
the end” which
refers to “the termination and limit at which a thing ceases to be,
last in succession or series, the finish and eternal”, “the
first”
which means “the chief and principal in influence, honor, rank and
succession”, “and
the last”
or “the end in time, place, series or temporal succession”. John
shared how Jesus is also the “origin, finish, chief in influence
and final one in succession”.
When
we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see how Jesus covers
the full gamete of time and space. He existed before time began, and
He will exist eternally. He co-exists with God the Father who desires
for every person to have a relationship with Him through His Son
Jesus Christ. God always has been and always shall be, and Jesus
wants everyone to be with them throughout all eternity. May all who
read these words know that Jesus is the preeminent One, and He shall
exist forever, and those who are wise shall align their lives in
submission to the “Alpha,
Omega, beginning, end first and last”
One today.
Next
time John declares,
“Blessed
are they that do his commandments”
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
