Away from a Foolish Man - Proverbs 14:7

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “a scorner seeks wisdom, and finds it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understands”, and in chapter fourteen and verse seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “go from the presence of a foolish man” where we read,

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you perceive not in him the lips of knowledge.

The verse begins, “Go from the presence of a foolish man, ...” Solomon began with the words, “go from the presence” or “depart and leave separate and apart from the face, sight and view” “of a foolish man” which means “belonging to a stupid fellow, dullard, simpleton or arrogant person whether male or female”. Solomon said to depart from the sight and view of the person who is a dullard, simpleton and who acts in an arrogant way.

The verse continues, “... when you perceive not in him the lips of knowledge.” Solomon added the words, “when you perceive not in him” or “at the time and moment you, the person reading and listening to Solomon's words, do not discern, find, discriminate and distinguish in the foolish person whether male or female” “the lips of knowledge” which means “the physical lips used for speaking pertaining to perception, skill and wisdom”. Solomon said at the time and moment the person reading and listening to his words was to leave the “presence of a foolish man” when they discern within their speech a lack of skill and wisdom.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how we are not to remain in the “presence” of people who are silly and arrogant. At the moment we realize the person speaks with a lack of wisdom and prudence, we are to leave them. God wants us to be wise, and He wants us to keep company with people who are wise. He is all wise, and He knew we needed a “Savior and Lord” who could forgive us of our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to be wise and keep company with people who have knowledge and understanding. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we will receive all God has for us. Let all who read these words give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their provision for us to enjoy “wisdom”.

Next time Solomon says, “the wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
