In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how, “one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?”, and in chapter twelve and verse seven of his book Daniel said the one answered, “it shall be for a time, times, and an half”, where we read,
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swore by him that lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
The verse reads, “And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, …” Daniel began with the words, “and I heard the man” or “and I, Daniel, was given the faculty for hearing, perceiving and listening to the male being” “clothed in linen” which means “arrayed in white flaxen threads”, “which was upon the waters” or “who was on the watercourses or springs” “of the river” which means “belonging to the flowing stream”, “when he held up” or “at the time and moment he, the male being’s, raised, made lofty and lifted up” “his right hand” which means “his, the male being’s, hand on the right side” “and his left hand” or “and his, the male being’s, hand on the left side” “unto heaven” which means “toward the visible sky, atmosphere and universe”. Daniel shared how he was given the capacity to hear the male being who was arrayed in white flaxen threads who was standing upon the watercourses of the flowing stream with his “right and left” hands raised toward the sky.
The verse continues, “and swore by him that lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half;” Daniel added the words, “and swore by him” or “and adjured and took an oath through the means of him, Jehovah God” “that lives for ever” which means “who remains alive eternally and unto everlasting” “that it shall be for a time” or “that it, the end of the wonders, will exist for a year”, “times” which means “two years”, “and an half” or “and one-half year”. Daniel shared how the one upon the waters responded that it would be three and one-half years until “the end of these wonders”.
Finally the verse says, “and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.” Daniel concluded this verse with the words, “and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power” which means “and at the time and moment he, Jehovah God, will break, dash and beat in pieces the might, strength and ability” “of the holy people” or “belonging to the sacred, pure and set apart human beings”, “all these things” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of these acts and deeds” “shall be finished” or “will exist as completed, exhausted and brought to an end”. Daniel ended this verse by saying at the time the evil one beats in pieces the might and strength of the sacred people, everything will be completed.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the male being who was arrayed in white flaxen threads on the flowing streams raised his “left and right hand” toward the sky as though taking an oath, and said three and one-half years would pass before he spread about the might and ability of the sacred “people”, and then all the acts and deeds told to Daniel would end. God has His plan and timing for every event that happens to people, and because He desires a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days, when we yield to Him we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and assured through His Holy Spirit that He knows exactly when all His prophesies will be fulfilled as He presides over them.
Next time Daniel said, “I heard, but I understood not”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
