Today They'll Wear New Shoes

Samaritan's feet was the vision of Emmanuel Ohome who was given shoes by someone from Wisconsin over 28 years ago. The exert from their webpage www.samaritansfeet.org states it like this:

“The vision for Samaritan’s Feet was conceived over 28 years ago on one hot summer afternoon at a camp in Lagos, Nigeria when a stranger from Wisconsin befriended a young African boy. The young boy, like so many other children in Africa and around the world, had never known the comfort and security of owning a pair of tennis shoes. This “Good Samaritan” gave a life-changing gift and a message of hope to that 9-year old boy. He gave him his first pair of shoes. With that new pair of shoes for inspiration, Emmanuel Ohonme went on to compete in sports activities in Africa. Specifically, he developed a love as well as superior talent for competitive basketball.”

Today in Tallahassee at the MRZ CENTRE volunteers just like the person from Wisconsin will be providing shoes for children in our city. Children whose parents or grandparents are struggling to make ends meet will make a line down the street, wait for their time, receive groceries and clothing, and be able to have their feet washed and receive a new pair of tennis shoes just the way it was for “Manny.” Today, like Manny, children will know that someone in the world cares for them, and today they'll wear new shoes.

Until tomorrow...Why Say more?
