Gifts of Healing, Tongues and Interpretation 1 Corinthians 12:30

Paul the apostle asked the church members in Corinth, “are all apostles, prophets, teachers or workers of miracles?”, and in chapter twelve and verse thirty of First Corinthians, Paul shared with the Corinthian church about the, have all the gifts of healing, speak with tongues, and all interpret”, where we read:

Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

The verse begins, Have all the gifts of healing?”. Paul began with the words, “Have all” which refers to “do each, every, the whole and everyone hold, own and possess” “the gifts” which means “grace or gifts denoting extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians and enabling them to serve the church of Christ, and the reception of which is due to the power of divine grace operating on their souls by the Holy Spirit” “of healing” which means “means of remedy and medicine”? Paul added to his list of “spiritual gifts” as he asked the church members to consider whether everyone had the “gifts of healing”.

The verse continues, do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?” Paul continues with the word, “do all” which means “does each, every, the whole and everyone” “speak” or “utter with a voice or emit a sound” “with tongues” which means “the language or dialect used by a particular people distinct from that of other nations”? “do all” or “does each, every, the whole and everyone” “interpret” which means “to unfold the meaning of what is said, explain, expound and translate into one's native language”? Paul added “the gifts of speaking in a foreign language and interpreting them”.

When we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see how he included “healing, tongues and interpretation of tongues” to his list of “spiritual gifts” that may be acquired by the church members from God through the Holy Spirit. These “gifts” are to be used to “edify” the church members, yet, everyone in the church does not receive these “gifts”. Jesus Christ desires for His church to be “built up” and these “gifts” shall insure that it is.

Next time Paul tells the church members to, “covet earnestly the best gifts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
