In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “if you forbear to deliver them that are drawn to death” where we read,
If you forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death,
and those that are ready to be slain;
The verse begins, “If you forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, ...” Solomon began with the words, “if you forebear” or “whether and in case you, Solomon's readers and listeners, withhold, restrain, keep in check and refrain” “to deliver them” which means “to snatch away, rescue, save and snatch away from them, the people who are as follows” “that are drawn unto death” or “who are carried, taken, procured and fetched away toward dying, pestilence and ruin”. Solomon considered the idea of his readers and listeners refraining from rescuing people who are sentenced and led away to die.
The verse continues, “... and those that are ready to be slain;” Solomon added the words, “and those that are ready” or “and the people whether male or female who exist as staggering and stumbling” “to be slain” which means “toward killing and slaughter”. Solomon also wrote of “forbearing” people who are stumbling toward being slaughtered.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon about people who are prone to resist saving others who are carried away toward dying as well as those who are staggering toward their death. Paul the apostle wrote, “as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation”(See Hebrews 9:27-28). Because we all are destined to die, (ten out of ten people die), we need a “Savior”, and Jesus has paid the price and volunteered. He died on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His compassion through His Holy Spirit so we desire to intercede and intervene for others who are “drawn to death” and “ready to be slain”.
Next time Solomon shares about, “if you say, Behold, we knew it not”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
