In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles: lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse nineteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “fret not yourself because of evil men” where we read,
Fret not yourself because of evil men,
neither be you envious at the wicked;
The verse begins, “Fret not yourself because of evil men, ...” Solomon began with the words, “fret not yourself” or “do not be hot, furious, angry or kindled yourself, Solomon's own son's self” “because of evil men” which means “since and on account of people who are bad, displeasing, injurious and wicked”. Solomon instructed his son not to allow himself to become angry and furious over people who are displeasing and wicked.
The verse continues, “... neither be you envious at the wicked;” Solomon added the words, “neither be you envious” or “no and not in any way allow your, Solomon's son, own self to be zealous or provoked to jealousy” “at the wicked” which means “at people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God”. Solomon told his son not to be provoked to jealousy toward people who are evil and hostile to God.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we see how he did not want his son to become angry and furious over people who are wicked, and he was not to be provoked to jealousy over people who are criminal and hostile to God. God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and calm our anger, envy and jealousy over people who seem to flourish and prosper in their “wicked” and evil ways.
Next time Solomon says, “there shall be no reward to the evil man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
