Rude in Speech, Not Knowledge 2 Corinthians 11:6

Paul the apostle told the church members in Corinth that he was not, behind the very chiefest apostles”, and in chapter eleven and verse six of Second Corinthians, Paul referred to how he was,“rude in speech, yet not in knowledge where we read:

But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge;
but we have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things.

The verse begins, But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge;” Paul began with the word, “but” which means “moreover and” “though I be rude” or “though Paul was an unlearned, illiterate and opposed to the learned and educated” “in speech” which means “in utterance, decree, mandate and speaking”, “yet not” or “nevertheless and notwithstanding” “not in knowledge” which means “not in more perfect and enlarged understanding of things lawful and unlawful for Christians”. Though Paul considered himself “unlearned and uneducated” in his proclamations, he was not lacking in the “knowledge” of Jesus Christ and His ways.

The verse continues, “but we have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things.” Paul added the word, “but” which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence over what was just stated “we have been thoroughly made manifest” which refers to “Paul and his companions being visible or known what has been hidden or unknown whether by words, deeds or any other way” “among you” or “with and alongside the church members” “in all things” or “in each, every, the whole and everything”. Paul and his companions were revealed and shown to the church members in “everything” they did.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how he “humbled” himself not only in his position among Christians, but also in his appraisal of his own “speech”. Paul was a well educated man who was part of the Sanhedrin, and he was well versed in the scriptures. He and his companions exemplified the characteristics of Jesus as they were “revealed” in everything they did. Jesus Christ desires for His church to be like Paul and his companions, and as the world observes, let Jesus be “manifested” not only in “speech”, but also in “deeds”.

Next time Paul asks the church members “Have I committed an offense in abasing myself that ye might be exalted?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
