Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “what
I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which
desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as
we”,
and in chapter
eleven and verse thirteen of Second Corinthians, Paul told the church
members,“such are false apostles”
and
“deceitful workers”
where we read:
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,
transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
The verse begins, “For
such are false apostles, deceitful workers,...”
Paul began with the word, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore “such are false apostles”
or “those
who are seeking occasion making false claims to be an ambassador of
Christ”, “deceitful”
which means “guileful” “workers”
or “laborers and ones who do”. Paul considered people who were
seeking occasion against he and his companions as false claim making
guileful laborers.
The verse continues,
“...transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ.” Paul
added the word, “transforming” which
means “to change the figure of” “themselves”
or “their
own selves” “into the apostles”
which means “toward the delegates, messengers and ones sent forth
with orders” “of Christ”
which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”.
The “false apostles”
and “deceitful workers”
written of by Paul were actually “changing themselves” or
portending to be “ones sent out by “Christ”
the Messiah.
When we consider these
words of Paul, we his assessment of those who sought “occasion”
against he and his companions. These were not true “apostles”,
and they were “deceitful”
when they were among the church members. Jesus Christ desires
“truth” with His “gospel”,
and anyone who works in the manner of these men should not only be
called out for it, but also be banned from the church.
Next
time Paul
tells the church members how these people are, “false
apostles” and
“deceitful workers”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
