Care of All the Churches 2 Corinthians 11:28

Paul the apostle told the church members in Corinth about difficulties he faced as he shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, and he added to his list, In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren, in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness”. In chapter eleven and verse twenty-eight of Second Corinthians, Paul added to his list, “the care of all the churches” where we read:

Beside those things that are without, that which comes upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

The verse begins, Beside those things that are without, that which comes upon me daily, ...” Paul began with the word, “beside” which refers to “except, saving and without” “those things that are without” which is one Greek word “chōris” which means “separate, apart and without any”, “that which comes upon ” or “this and these things that band together, excite to riotous gathering and a throng” “me daily” which refers to “Paul each and every space of twenty four hours”. In addition to all the other “dangers” or “perils” Paul suffered, he was engaged “every day” with that which he is about to declare.

The verse goes on to say, “... the care of all the churches.” Paul continued with the words, “the care” which means “the anxiety and solicitude” “of all” or “of each, every, the whole and everyone of” “the churches” which means “the assemblies of Christians gathered for worship in a religious meeting”. Paul “cared” for “all the churches” he visited and began throughout the regions he and his companions traveled.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how he was concerned “every day” for “all the churches” God enabled him to oversee. Daily Paul desired for the “churches” to know Jesus and fulfill His mission for their lives. Jesus employs the work of the church to share His gospel throughout the world, and when the church is functioning properly, many people come to know Him. May the Lord add this truth not only to the “belief” of all who read, but also to their lives.

Next time Paul questions the church members concerning the person, “who is weak...or offended” and more, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
