Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “the
administration of this service not only supplies the want of the
saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God”,
and
in
chapter nine and verse thirteen of Second
Corinthians, Paul shared,
“by the experiment of this
ministration they glorify God”
where we read:
Whiles
by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your
professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal
distribution unto them, and unto all men;
The verse begins, “Whiles
by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your
professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, ...”
Paul began with the words, “whiles
by” which
means “through and by way of” “the
experiment” or
“the proving, trial and proof of tried worth” “of
this ministration”
which means “the servicing and distributing” “they
glorify”
or “those who receive the gifts praise, extol, magnify and
celebrate” “God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “for
your”
which means “on behalf of and for the sake of the church members”
“professed”
or “acknowledge and confessed” “subjection”
which means “obedience” “unto the
gospel” or
“toward the good news and tidings of salvation” “of
Christ”
which refers to “through the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son
of God”. Paul declared how the church
members through “proving service” made those who received their
“gifts” “glorify”
their “obedience” to the “good news” of Jesus Christ.
The
verse continues, “... and for your liberal
distribution unto them, and unto all men;”
Paul added the words, “and for your liberal”
or “for the church members' single, simplistic, sincere and mental
honesty” “distribution”
which means “fellowship, association, community, communion, joint
participation and intercourse” “unto
them” or
“toward those who received the gifts”,
“and unto all men”
which refers to “to each, every, the whole of human beings whether
male or female”. Paul recognized the “sincere giving” of the
Corinthian church members to other Christians and to all people.
When we consider these
words of Paul, we see how important it was that the Corinthian
believers be “liberal”
givers to the “gospel”
of Jesus Christ. People were taking note of their actions, and when
they distributed their offerings willingly, they demonstrated their
commitment to God's message of salvation. Perhaps their example shall
inspire us to examine our own “giving”,
and should we be motivated to follow their ways, let others “glorify
God” for
His wonderful “salvation” plan for man.
Next
time Paul tells the church members about,
“their prayer in you”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
