The Ministering to the Saints 2 Corinthians 9:1

Because Titus was Paul's “partner and fellow-helper concerning” the church, some of he and his companions' “brethren” were “inquired of” since “they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ”. So Paul challenged the church members, Wherefore show you to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf”, and in chapter nine and verse one of Second Corinthians, Paul wrote to them, “as touching the ministering to the saints” where we read:

For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

The verse begins, For as touching the ministering to the saints, ... Paul began with the word, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “as touching” which means “concerning, on account of, because of, around and near” “the ministering” which means “the servicing and execution of the commands of others” “to the saints” which refers to “the pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated”. Paul turned his attention toward “service” to those within the church.

The verse continues, “... it is superfluous for me to write to you:” Paul added the words, “it is superfluous” which means “exceeding, superadded, abundantly and supremely further” “for me” or “for Paul” “to write” or “to delineate or form letters on a tablet, parchment, paper or other material” “to you” which refers to “the church members”. Paul felt it to be “excessive” to the norm to “write” to them.

When we consider these words of Paul, we note that he is addressing “serving” other “saints”, and he felt it nearly “unnecessary” to write to the church members concerning it. Jesus Christ loves for His believers to care for one another, and although there may be cause to remind one another, this kind of “ministering to the saints” should simply be a part of the makeup of the church.

Next time Paul tells the church members, “your zeal has provoked very many”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
