No Blame in Abundance 2 Corinthians 8:20

Paul the apostle shared with the church members in Corinth about a special person who was, “chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty of Second Corinthians, Paul shared with the Corinthian church members how no man should blame us in this abundance where we read:

Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:

The verse begins, Avoiding this, that no man should blame us ... Paul began with the words, “avoiding this” which refers to “preparing, equipping, fitting to one's use and abstaining”, “that no man” which means “so no certain person” “should blame us” which means “would find fault with, mock, censure or carp at Paul and his companions”. Paul wanted to keep from having anyone “find fault with or mock” at he and his companions.

The verse goes on to say, “...in this abundance which is administered by us: Paul continued with the words, “in this abundance” which means “in the bountiful collection, ripeness and fullness of the gifts” “which is administered” or “that is served, supplied or attended to” “by us” or “through Paul and his companions”. Paul did not want anyone “mocking or blaming” he and his companions for the lavish gift which was being handled by them.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we note his carefulness not to be “blamed, mocked or found with fault” as he and his companions served the gift given to the church in Jerusalem. Those who handle gifts and offerings should pay particular attention to Paul's care concerning them. Too often those who have managed money and gifts within the church have been irresponsible for their care for them, and it has caused many to “mock and find fault with” the church as a whole. Jesus Christ desires for “gifts” to be given within His church, and when they are, there should be “no blame in abundance” against those who “administer” them.

Next time Paul tells the church members how, “providing honest things...in the sight of the Lord...and men, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
