Parables to the Multitudes - Matthew 13:34

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus spoke, Another parable … unto them;” where He declared, “The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirty-four of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus spoke, “unto the multitudes in parables” where we read:

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables;

and without a parable spake he not unto them:

The verse reads, All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; Matthew began with the words, “all these things” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of the things” “spake Jesus” or “uttered, declared and proclaimed Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation who is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “unto the multitudes” which means “to the crowds of people surrounding Him” “in parables” or “with a narrative that is fictitious but agreeable to the laws and usages of human life, by which either the duties of men or the things of God, particularly the nature and history of God's kingdom are figuratively portrayed and is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning”. Matthew shared how Jesus spoke all these “earthly stories with heavenly meanings” to the crowds surrounding Him.

The verse goes on to say, and without a parable spake he not unto them: Matthew continued with the words, “and without a parable” which means “and apart from and beside a narrative that is fictitious but agreeable to the laws and usages of human life, by which either the duties of men or the things of God, particularly the nature and history of God's kingdom are figuratively portrayed and is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning” “spake he not” or “Jesus did not utter, declare or proclaim” “unto them” which means “to the multitudes”. Matthew shared how Jesus did not speak to the “crowds” surrounding Him without using the “earthly stories with heavenly meanings” .

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus intentionally did not disclose to the “multitudes” everything concerning the “kingdom of heaven”. Rather than speaking to them plainly, Jesus used “earthly stories with heavenly meanings” to share about God's kingdom. Those who have a relationship with Jesus through His Son Jesus Christ become “disciples” of Jesus Christ, and they are given insight into Jesus' “parables”. Those who do not receive Him shall continue to wonder what Jesus meant by His wonderful words.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus fulfilled yet another prophesy of, “the prophet”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
