The Angels Gathering the Offenders and Doers of Iniquity - Matthew 13:41

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus, “sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world”, and in chapter thirteen and verse forty-one of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus tells His disciples, “the Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather” where we read:

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

The verse reads, The Son of man shall send forth his angels, ... Matthew began with the words, “The Son of man” which means “Christ Himself or Jesus who is the one who both furnished the pattern of the perfect man and acted on behalf of all mankind“shall send forth” or “will allow to depart, order to go to a place appointed and dismiss” “his angels” which means “the Son of man's messengers and envoys”. Matthew shared how Jesus would “discharge” His “angels” to do as He instructs them.

The verse continues, ... and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; Matthew added the words, “and they shall gather” which means “and the angels will collect and assemble “out of his kingdom” or “from Jesus royal dominion” “all things” which means “each, every, the whole and and everyone of the things” “that offend” or “that are traps, snares, impediments and stumbling-blocks”, “and them” which refers to “and the people” “which do iniquity” or “who perform, produce and make ready contempt, violation of the law and wickedness”. Matthew shared how Jesus said His “angels” would “collect and harvest” everything from His Kingdom that is “offensive and wicked” including the people who perform those acts.

When we think through Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus continued to interpret the “parable of the tares”. The “harvest” of the “tares” and the “good seed” are to be at the end of the age, and will be carried out by the “messengers” of Jesus. These “ministers of God” will be assigned to “collect and gather together” every “wicked and evil” thing and every “wicked and evil” person, and they shall be separated from the “good seed” or the “children of God” who remain. God desires for every person to have a loving personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus, and when they yield their lives to Him, they shall not be among these “wicked ones” who shall be gathered by the “angels”.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus told His disciples after the angels gather the tares they, “shall cast them into a furnace of fire”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
