God Glorified His Son Jesus - Acts 3:13

Luke the physician wrote how Peter said to the lame man at the temple, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God. And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, You men of Israel, why marvel you at this? or why look you so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?”, and in chapter three and verse thirteen of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter told the people, “The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus” where we read:

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

The verse begins, “The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus;” Luke began with the words, “the God of Abraham” which means “the first person in the trinity known as God the Father belonging to Abraham whose name means father of a multitude and was the son of Terah and the founder of the Jewish nation”, “and of Isaac” or “and belonging to Isaac whose name means to laugh and was the son of Abraham and Sarah”, “and of Jacob” which means “and belonging to Jacob whose name means supplanter or heel catcher and was the second son of Isaac”, “the God of our fathers” or “the Father God belonging to our, the Jewish people's, male generator or ancestor”, “has glorified his son Jesus” which means “has praised, extolled, magnified and celebrated his, God's son, Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation and is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”. Luke shared how “Peter” referred to the God of “Abraham, Isaac, Jacob” and the other ancestors of the Jewish people who rushed toward him as he shared how “God” “praised and extolled” His Son whose name is Jesus.

The verse goes on to say, “whom you delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.” Luke continued with the words, “whom you delivered up” or “who you, Jewish people who gathered themselves to Jesus, gave into the hands, over to the power of and betrayed”, “and denied him” which means “and have abnegated, abjured, rejected and refused” “in the presence of Pilate” or “in front of the countenance belonging to Pilate whose name means armed with a spear and was the sixth Roman procurator of Judah and Samaria who ordered Christ to be crucified”, “when he was determined to let him go” which means “at the time and moment he, Pilate, was resolved, decreed, judged and concluded to set Jesus free”. Luke shared how “Peter” told the people gathered to him and John that they were responsible for “betraying and denying” Jesus before Pilate's face who wanted to set Jesus free.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Peter” began to address the people who rushed toward him and John at the portico in the temple. He told them how God “extolled” His own Son Jesus whom they “betrayed” and “rejected” before “Pilate” even through he wanted to set Jesus free. In other words, they were guilty of the death of Jesus. The truth is everyone is guilty of the death of Jesus because they have sin in their lives, and Jesus came to die for the sins of all mankind. Anyone who yields their life to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Those who are wise will carefully consider all “Peter's words” to this group of people and submit themselves to Jesus who came to be their “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Luke shares how Peter tells the people, “you denied the Holy One and the Just”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
