Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “if
all prophesy, and there come in one that believes not, or one
unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:”,
and in chapter fourteen and verse
twenty-five of First Corinthians, Paul shared how through
“prophesy”, “the
secrets of his heart made manifest”,
where we read:
And
thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down
on his
face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
The
verse begins, “And
thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest;,...”.
Paul began
with the words, “And thus” or
“in this manner” “are the
secrets”
which means “the hidden and concealed things” “of
his heart”
which refers to “the person's center and seat of spiritual life”
“made manifest”
or “come to pass, arisen and appeared apparent, evident, plainly
recognized and known”. Through “prophesies”
a person's “center and spiritual life” is “plainly recognized
and known”.
The
verse continues, “... and
so falling down on his
face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.”
Paul added
the words, “and so falling down”
which means
“to descend from a higher place to a lower or be thrust down” “on
his face”
or “on the front of the person's head” “he
will worship”
which means “the person will kneel or prostrate themselves to do
homage or make obeisance whether in order to express respect or to
make supplication” “God” which
refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “and
report” or
“and bring tidings, word, report or proclaim, make known openly and
declare” “that God”
or “so the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the
Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “is
in you”
which means “is within the church members” “of
a truth”
or “of reality and opposed to what is pretended, fictitious, false
and conjectural”. Because the person is exposed to the “prophesies”
of the
church members who have the “truth”
in them and they reveal “his heart”,
the person will bow down and “worship”
God.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see the power that is in
“prophesying” with “understanding” within the
church. Unbelievers not only will be exposed to the gospel, but will
also have opportunity to bow down and “worship God”. Jesus
Christ desires to expose people to His saving grace, and through the
“vocal spiritual gift” of “prophesy”,
they will not only attest to church members having the “truth of
God in them”, but will also have their “heart” revealed
and be given a chance to know God.
Next
time Paul asks
the church members “how it
is”,
“when you come together,
every one of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a
revelation, has an interpretation”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
