Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth that “love”,
“rejoices not in iniquity, but
rejoices in the truth”,
and in chapter thirteen and verse seven of
First Corinthians, Paul shared with the Corinthian church how love,
“bears,
believes, hopes and endures all things”,
where we read:
Bears
all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things.
The
verse begins, “Bears
all things, believes all things,...”.
Paul began
with the word, “bears”
which means “protects, preserves and covers over with silence”
“all things”
or “each, every, the whole and everything”, “believes”
which means “thinks to be true, is persuaded of, credits and places
confidence in” “all things”
or “”each, every, the whole and everything”. Paul declared how
“love” “protects and preserves and places confidence” in
everything.
The
verse continues, “... hopes
all things, endures all things.”
Paul added
the word, “hopes” which
means “expects, trusts and confides in” “all
things” of
“each, every, the whole and everything”, “endures”
or “perseveres, bears bravely and calmly, abides, takes patiently
and suffers” “all things” which
means “each, every, the whole and everything”. According to Paul,
“love” “expects and perseveres” everything as well.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we understand more of the
qualities of this “agape” God kind of “love”. God's “love”
“protects, preserves and covers over with silence” things that
need to be. It “thinks” things to be true or leans toward them
being “true” rather than “false”, and it “expects” and
“bears bravely and calmly” things that come along in one's life.
Jesus Christ exhibited this kind of “love”, and those who are
followers of Him have this “love” available to themselves as
well. May the Lord Jesus bless us with this “God kind of love”,
and may the world acknowledge Him when they see it.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members concerning how, “charity
never fails”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
