Paul
the apostle shared with the church members in Corinth to, “you
are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you”,
and in chapter fifteen and verse three of
First Corinthians, Paul told the church members in Corinth, “Christ
died for our sins according to the scriptures”,
where we read:
For I
delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,
how
that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
The
verse begins, “For
I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,...”
Paul began
with the word, “for” or
“even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “I
delivered”
which means “gave into the hands, committed and commended verbally”
“unto you”
or “toward the church members” “first
of all” or
“with chief influence, honor and rank” “that
which I also”
or “the gospel which Paul even and indeed” “received”
which means “accepted or acknowledged to be such as professed and
not rejected”. Paul shared the “good news” of Jesus Christ
which he “received”
with the church members in Corinth.
The
verse goes on to say, “...how
that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
Paul added
the word, “how” or
“because and since” “that Christ”
which means “the anointed one, the Messiah and the Son of God”
“died” or
“of the violent death of man” “for
our sins”
or “in behalf of and for the sake of Paul and the church members'
missing of the mark, error and mistakes which violate the divine law
in thought or in act” “according”
which means “down from, through out and toward” “to
the scriptures”
which refers to “the things written in a certain portion or section
of the Holy Scripture”. Jesus Christ “died”
for the sins of everyone according to Paul.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see how he delivered to
the church members in Corinth the message about Jesus Christ dying
for our “sins” which Paul personally “received”.This
is the beginning of the message of the “gospel”, and it is
available to everyone who will simply accept it and live within it's
truth. May we be as the church members, and hear the message of Paul
that Jesus Christ came to save us “from our sins”.
Next
time Paul tells
the church members that Jesus,
“was buried, and that he
rose again the third day according to the scriptures”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
