Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth how Jesus, “was
buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures:”,
and He was “seen of Cephas, the
twelve and over five hundred brethren”
afterwards. In
chapter fifteen and verse seven of First Corinthians, Paul told the
church members in Corinth how Jesus was, “seen
of James” and
“all the apostles”, where
we read:
After
that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
The
verse begins, “After
that, he was seen of James;” Paul
began with the words, “after that”
or
“thereupon, thereafter and afterwards”, “he
was seen”
which means “appeared to, was looked at and beheld” “of
James”
whose name means “supplanter” and was “James the Less who was
the brother of our Lord”. Jesus was also seen by his half brother
“James”.
The
verse continues, “then
of all the apostles.” Paul
added the word, “then” or
“next or after that” “of all”
which means “of each, every, the whole and everyone of” “the
apostles” which
refers to “the delegates, messengers or ones sent forth with orders
”. Jesus was also seen by the rest of the
“apostles”.
When
we think through these words from Paul, we add even more witnesses to
the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “James the Less” saw
Him, and the remainder of the “apostles” saw Him as well.
Jesus Christ is the Messiah who “died” and “rose”
from the grave three days later, and all these people gave testimony
that He did. Now we may believe in Him as “Savior and Lord”, and
let all who read these words yield and give their lives to Him.
Next
time Paul tells
the church members,
“last of all he was seen of
me also”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
